Asbestos Awareness and an outlook on non-licensed Removal
Course Objectives:
Channel Islands Law recommend that all persons undertaking work with asbestos or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos should be given training in order to safeguard their health. Other people who also play a part in preventing exposure, such as surveyors, supervisors and managers should also be trained. The course is designed to provide essential information to allow persons to safeguard their own health, the health of co-workers and any staff they might be responsible for. By the end of the course delegates should have a basic understanding of asbestos, the dangers of exposure, relevant legal requirements and how asbestos affects their work.
It is not designed to give persons a level of competency in asbestos work.

- The properties and uses of asbestos
- An appreciation of where asbestos may be found in relation to their work
- The health risks from asbestos
- Asbestos regulation
- What to do if asbestos is found unexpectedly
- The safe methods of working with asbestos cement materials and other low-hazard material
- Where to get further advice and guidance
- How to carry out work activities without risks to people
- Pro-active and re-active monitoring
- Non Licensed Asbestos Removal
Who should attend:
The course is designed for anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge of asbestos issues or who has the potential to be exposed to asbestos through the course of their activities. Safe working procedures for non licensed removal is included however, it is not designed for persons working actively with asbestos.
Assessment:
There is no formal assessment. Candidates will be issued a certificate of attendance.
